Where My Dogs At...? (11/16/09)

Where did the time go? These past few months I’ve been busy selling out to six flags, painting an outdoor collaboration with my Project Sf crew brother Metalwing, devastating the real estate at Fourth Wall Project in Boston, MA. and producing some digital work for a new media show at Lyoming College in Williamsport, PA.

In the process I’ve found working with new media is similar to working in any two or thee dimensional medium. Once a piece is done it becomes dated and you as the artist are ready to move on. It‘s in that process of moving forward that you strive to find the balance between new work and documentation, weighing the merits of both.

That said, my thoughts and ideas have outgrown this website… it’s time to switch things up a bit. I’m not sure when I’ll be back but know when I return it’ll be with new work, new ideas and a new website. See you in 2010.

Temporary Lay-Offs… Good Times...! (05/11/09)

People are trying to make it work, this recession that is. Whether it’s waiting on tables or scamming off unemployment, people have bills to pay and dreams to fulfill. I have dreams to fulfill… and with more talent than money I’ve got to try and make it happen.

After a much-deserved creative hiatus I am pleased to announce the web release of Empty Calories & Male Curiosity. This new online gallery is an interactive look at the paintings, drawings and animations showcased in my installation at Hungryman Gallery in Chicago. It also features a collection of articles and artifacts that inspired my recent artwork. Heads up though, some of the content on this site is of a mature nature and definitely NSFW (Not Safe For Work). If you haven't seen my new work in person, make sure you check out Empty Calories & Male Curiosity.

What's a Goon to a Goblin? (11/23/08)

Welcome, welcome…. This is an interesting time we live in. I guess all times are interesting but I think for our country, for our economy, for American history, this is an inspiring moment. In an attempt to do my part, I recently painted another volunteer mural. These murals have been hand painted in a few locations around New York City and are completed by children and volunteers. My latest addition is a graffiti inspired Lower East Side mural done with brush and acrylic on a rainy fall afternoon at Grand Street Settlement. In my opinion, it’s probably the best one of the series. What a perfect way to end 2008.

In my attempts to work more with video and animation I've produced a short music video for Bible Kiss Bible’s track “We Made it Taco”. The video was shot during our performance project at Artscape and shows performers and passers-by interacting with the piece. It’s beautiful stuff really… check it out here.

For those of you who couldn’t make it out to Empty Calories & Male Curiosity in Chicago I've manufactured an interactive website documenting and detailing the project. This mini-site features all new photographs, paintings, drawing, animations and found objects from my installation at Hugryman Gallery. You have to see it to believe it.

I've also been featured as a contributer to Venus Zine Fall 2008, available at creative outlets and book stores nation wide. Get a sneak peak of my illustrative talents here.

As part of Product(Red), Converse just released the latest additions to their 1HUND(RED) artist series which I was selected to take part in. Why? Tell ‘Em That it’s Human Nature (07/13/08)

First and foremost I’ll be working on a performance art project at Artscape from July 17th till the 20th with Ding Ren and Bible Kiss Bible. For those of you that don't know, Artscape, located in Baltimore, MD is the nations largest free city wide arts festival, and a must see for anyone into creativity. For directions check out the flyer here.

I’ve also been working on the DL as a model for United Way of NYC… see if you can pick me out of the crowd at LIVEUNITEDNYC.ORG

And since charity is contagious, I’ve spray painted some new murals that were in turn hand painted by community volunteers and children in New York City’s Harlem and Williamsburg neighborhoods over the summer… Check out the finished product here.

Continuing in the vein of giving, I’ve written an interesting bit about the power of caring and my experiences with homelessness titled Charity is Contagious. If you aren't already thinking about how you impact your community you should really give it the once over.

Last but not least, I’ve finally posted a photograph of the collaborative painting Kelly Towles and I did in the summer of 2006. Good stuff, and more to come.

Actions Speak Louder Then Words (12/15/07)

Another cold lonely NYC winter sitting in my room. Good thing there's lots to be done... like helping out my favorite lunch date Ill P. with some design work, or just feeling my recent move to the home of Biggie, Jay-Z, and of course the Islamic center of NYC, Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn. Inspired by my neighborhood's Hip-Hop routes, my latest MRNVR project is an ode to the art and attitude of freestyle rapping... I dare you to rap better then me. MC Greg Burdett: Durty & Thurty coming early 2008.

On a visual tip, the crew over at Project Super Friends has finnaly finished the much awaited, highly anticipated Project Sf Super Flog. This weblog is the best source for events, updates and new work from the entire Project SF family of friends. Peep the content, it's nice...

Boyz 2 Men... Pt. 2 (09/01/07)

Today is the most amazing day of my life. Why? Because it has to be... Because we have to move forward. People die, people cry... Scott Farris RIP. Gordon Riker RIP. Today it comes full circle. No matter how much it hurts I'm going to try because... I'm going to make it right. That's my resolve.

Last weekend at Bodega in Boston, Kenji Nakayama, Josh Falk and I painted a beautiful portrait of Gordon Riker as part of Art Terror: The Life & Art of Gordon RIker, a show of his finnal artwork. The opening reception is Firday, September 7th from 6 to 8pm. Bodega will also be releasing new t-shirt designs from Gordon's clothing label Art Terror so check it out. The show will be up until mid September.

"GORDON RIKER" by Project Sf almost finished... Who's doing the edging?

I'm Turning Japanese, I Really Thought So... (08/16/07)

So... After 2 months of jumping through hoops for a job in Japan, I was denied a work visa by the Japanese government. That's the life of a graffiti writer... I guess. Needless to say I'm back on the domestic employment market. Get at me America... seriously, I need a job.

I've finnaly joined YouTube...Yay!!! Also, I've been working on a new identity project called MRNVR with fresh new stickers and shit... email me with your mailing address and I'll send you a sticker pack.

Cuz If At First You Don't Succeed... (08/06/07)

You can dust it off and try again, and again, and again. I've dusted it off, I've even brushed my shoulders off, but how many more times can you try? At 30 years old I don't feel any closer to my goals then I did at 25. Well, maybe a little closer but there is still a long way to go.

Anyway, I've changed up the format a little and added a recipe section featuring some of my favorite dishes. Also, two new essays, one detailing the Origins of Mister Never, have been added to the Artist Statements. What can I say, I like to write.
